Update 11w4d

On January 26th, we had our first dr. appointment.  The check-up went very well and we were able to have our first ultrasound.  It was amazing.  So hard to believe that the baby on the screen was growing in me!  We also heard the baby's heartbeat!  All of that made this whole experience seem that much more real.  The 26th also happened to be our sweet niece, Lauren's birthday, and Matthew's grandfather's birthday as well.  On the 27th we were able to have dinner with Matthew's grandparents and share our big news.  They are thrilled, as much if not even more than our parents.  Later that weekend we shared the news with Chris and Lisa and later that week with several close extended family members.  On Feb. 5th, we made our announcement at Graefenburg UMC.  The members were very excited for us.  That night we announced on Facebook, which of course, makes it truly official. This week I traveled to the state music conference and I am in full maternity wear, so I guess it is a good thing we announced.  :)  This girl is long past buttons. 
     I am still feeling great, no sickness or other crazy pregnancy symptoms.  Because of my prior health my doctor is monitoring me very closely and I am having to go through all kinds of extra tests.  But all of those are coming out perfectly as well, so far so good. 
     The grandparents are so excited they can't stand it.  They are waiting for my okay to go shopping....although I think my mom is sneaking and shopping anyway.

Trying times...

  Yes, today is 14 weeks and yes a picture is coming I promise, but hubby isn't home yet.  :(  But I need to vent.  Today has been a very emotionally trying day.  Life seems to be overwhelming me (probably along with a few hormones too!) and I am really struggling today.  Between work, grad school, and other aspects of life, I am left worn out and stressed out.  I am well aware that I am very blessed.  I have been blessed with some amazing opportunities in life and even now with this baby on the way I realize how great I have things.  However, maybe this baby is helping me to put things into perspective.  Some of the things that I once found so important don't seem to matter as much.  Deadlines have been mere suggestions lately.  Most of all, I feel like I am struggling to find my voice in the sea of those who want to tell me what to do, how to do it, or how I should be feeling right now.  I can't decide if I want to cry or sleep.  I know that many of you are going throu

Holy Week

This week is Holy Week in the life of the church.  I love Holy Week and the somber reflection that comes with this week. Baby Kimmons has had an interesting week with all of the church services. I had the privilege of rehearsing and playing with the Baptist church for Good Friday, to which the baby was highly responsive. I hope that it is a musical child. It seemed to like the music and was dancing or something in there! We also had a Maundy Thursday service to which Baby K seemed to love all the singing as well.      Obviously, this has been a very busy week and I am exhausted.  The tired feeling has definitely not gone away, in fact, it may be even more intense.  I have been super achy this week as things seem to be growing and shifting even more. We had a bit of a scare yesterday, but after being all checked out, everything seems to be fine. Whadda ya think?

So, now that we have shared our big news, everyone's next question is..."well, are you going to find out the gender?"  My response is "ABSOLUTELY!" Ha!  My Type A- OCD personality has to find out.  Many people love the element of surprise that comes with not finding out, but I think the surprise of just meeting our beautiful baby will be enough, the rest must be planned.  :)  As far as preference, we don't really have one.  I would love to have a little girl to put big bow and flowers on their head and to cover in ruffles and frills, but a little boy would be tons of fun.  As long as the baby is happy and healthy, we are thrilled either way.  I have had several people make their suggestions as to gender based on my appearance.  One family member says it's a boy cause I am carrying all in front, a friend says it's a girl cause I am carrying down low.  My friends think it's a boy cause I haven't been puking like they were and they both had girl
