5 months!

A dear friend told me very early on when I was in tears over my baby outgrowing her newborn clothing that it is sad that they are growing and not so little anymore, but each new stage is so much fun that it makes it a little easier!  This is so true!  I get teared up every once in while when I see how big my girl is getting, but then she laughs or blows raspberries and well, it makes it all better! 

Things Elliott is doing:

*Smiling...all.the.time.
*blowing raspberries....hilarious!
*rolling over!  front to back and back to front!
*sitting!  She is still a bit wobbly on her own, but she can!
* eating rice cereal!  Today she grabbed the spoon and shoved it in her mouth....so cute!
*chewing on her toes. 
*performing "crib gymnastics"  for example, this morning when I went in to get her, she was at the opposite end of the crib than where I put her last night, with her head going the opposite direction. She's a mess.
* respond to her name.  :)
*she is figuring out all of the toys on her exersaucer. 
*she loves singing.  She particularly loves the "Itsy-bitsy Spider" and the "ABC's", but at night she prefers "Jesus Loves me" before going to sleep.
*she loves being read to!  She stays awake for the books every night, no matter how tired she is. 
*she has officially found Samson.  She loves to pull his ears!

We are so proud of our girl!  She is so much fun and makes me laugh every day!  We are having some issues at this point with cloth diapering.  Elliott is an extremely heavy wetter....so she leaks through at night.  Also, if she poops in the diaper at any point at night and we don't hear it, then she gets a really bad diaper rash.  Still trying to figure out if we can make it work or not.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Trying times...

  Yes, today is 14 weeks and yes a picture is coming I promise, but hubby isn't home yet.  :(  But I need to vent.  Today has been a very emotionally trying day.  Life seems to be overwhelming me (probably along with a few hormones too!) and I am really struggling today.  Between work, grad school, and other aspects of life, I am left worn out and stressed out.  I am well aware that I am very blessed.  I have been blessed with some amazing opportunities in life and even now with this baby on the way I realize how great I have things.  However, maybe this baby is helping me to put things into perspective.  Some of the things that I once found so important don't seem to matter as much.  Deadlines have been mere suggestions lately.  Most of all, I feel like I am struggling to find my voice in the sea of those who want to tell me what to do, how to do it, or how I should be feeling right now.  I can't decide if I want to cry or sleep.  I know that many of you are going throu

Holy Week

This week is Holy Week in the life of the church.  I love Holy Week and the somber reflection that comes with this week. Baby Kimmons has had an interesting week with all of the church services. I had the privilege of rehearsing and playing with the Baptist church for Good Friday, to which the baby was highly responsive. I hope that it is a musical child. It seemed to like the music and was dancing or something in there! We also had a Maundy Thursday service to which Baby K seemed to love all the singing as well.      Obviously, this has been a very busy week and I am exhausted.  The tired feeling has definitely not gone away, in fact, it may be even more intense.  I have been super achy this week as things seem to be growing and shifting even more. We had a bit of a scare yesterday, but after being all checked out, everything seems to be fine. Whadda ya think?

So, now that we have shared our big news, everyone's next question is..."well, are you going to find out the gender?"  My response is "ABSOLUTELY!" Ha!  My Type A- OCD personality has to find out.  Many people love the element of surprise that comes with not finding out, but I think the surprise of just meeting our beautiful baby will be enough, the rest must be planned.  :)  As far as preference, we don't really have one.  I would love to have a little girl to put big bow and flowers on their head and to cover in ruffles and frills, but a little boy would be tons of fun.  As long as the baby is happy and healthy, we are thrilled either way.  I have had several people make their suggestions as to gender based on my appearance.  One family member says it's a boy cause I am carrying all in front, a friend says it's a girl cause I am carrying down low.  My friends think it's a boy cause I haven't been puking like they were and they both had girl
