11 Weeks!

Today starts week 11 and sadly that means I am 1/4 of the way through this pregnancy.  How can that be already?  Baby is the size of a lime this week and apparently is growing fingers and toes!  It is starting to wiggle around in there and today I was able to feel a little of its movements...earlier than either of my other babies.

This week has been a little better in the glucose department, numbers are a little more consistent and I am finding a new stride with the insulin.  Hopefully we maintain this through the rest of pregnancy, but I won't hold my breath.  Baby has wanted Fazoli's breadsticks and Christmas tree cakes, neither of which are good for diabetic mama....but both are OH SO tasty!  hahaha.  I am officially down 20 pounds!  Hopefully I can keep it off once baby arrives.  Will. Power.

Tomorrow I have a trifecta of appointments, starting with an ultrasound, meeting with the MFM dr, nutritionist, and my regular OB.  I expect tomorrow to be fairly uneventful, but never the less a drive to Louisville and several more pokes and prods. Many of you have been asking if we will get the blood test for gender and I kind of blew it off at the beginning of the pregnancy, cause I honestly didn't understand.  This test NIPT is not something that was around when I had Drew (I mean it was only four years ago!).  It is a genetic tests that looks for abnormalities or some of the more "likely" genetic conditions that appear.  Through this test gender is also revealed.  I have not planned to do any genetic screening, but because of my age and my diabetes I am high risk and honestly, the dr my insist on the testing.  It is kind of fun to think that we might know gender....soon!

About the name....
Many of my friends here in London didn't know me during any of our previous pregnancies, so I want to fill you in on how we roll with baby names.  Once we find out/announce gender, we will likely share the baby's initials and that is it.  We won't even tell our parents...or the kids!  Nothing against anyone we just knew when we were pregnant with Elliott that we would get a lot of "feedback"with her name (which we did after she was born) and we didn't want to hear any one's opinions, so we kept it a secret.  It was a fun reveal at the hospital and when you are handed a baby and told that their name is "________________", you usually just go with it and don't question it as much!  SO that being said we will share the initials, but the name will have to wait!  (We allllllmost have names picked out...I'm wavering on one!)

Here is my bump pic today!  No denying it now!

  2. I had the genetic testing last time because of my age, 35 at delivery. It was fun knowing early.
